Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on the 13th of February, 1979) is an American actress fashion designer and model. Her career in modeling began in the year 1990, and then moved into acting following appearances in television shows like Boy Meets World or High Incident. In 1997, she made her debut as an actor in the film Nowhere. She made the transition to important roles thanks to her performance on American Beauty for which she received nominations for the BAFTA Award and American Pie and American Pie, both of which gained the attention of film critics. She was a co-star with American Pie's co-star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the leading role for the film Sugar & Spice (2001). In 2002, she appeared in Spun the independent drama as well as the 2004 thriller Trauma. In addition, she was a part of HBO's drama series Six Feet Under in 2004 the show was awarded a nomination for a member of the Outstanding Cast at the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008 she was cast in a string of films that included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the adaptation to film of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been featured in several blog and fashion publications and blogs, such as Vogue. She is also a Lancome model and appears on advertising in the print edition of Lancome Paris Adaptive. Suvari is an activist and frequent supporter of African Medical and Research Foundation. She is also active in issues of female empowerment and has been involved in charities whose cause is breast cancer as well as the End Violence Against Women campaign.
