Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won the national title twice. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. Following graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when he played college football. In 1975, he was the captain of the team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
